The Gospel of Grace

I believe that there has been confusion over the past many centuries as concerning what the Gospel really is.

The Apostle Paul gave us some information in Galatians 1:6-9:

Galatians 1:6-9, "6 marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said beforeso say I now again, If anyman preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Obviously, there were some people who had strayed away from the original Gospel of Jesus Christ. They were still trying to live by both systems...the system of the old covenant of the Law given by Moses...and the new covenant of Grace which came by Jesus Christ.

This was just causing confusion and keeping people frustrated under condemnation.

See...there should be no mixture of the Law of the old covenant and the new covenant of Grace. It is ALL GRACE NOW!

Does the Bible refer to the gospel as the "Gospel of Grace"?

Acts 20:24, "But none of these things move meneither count my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God."

Okay...so what is "The Gospel of Grace"?

The Gospel of Grace can be simplified by this statement..."Jesus Plus Nothing".

Jesus Christ came and lived a sin free life (because we couldn't), Jesus became sin on the cross (because we couldn't), Jesus died as a pure sacrifice for the sin of all mankind (because we couldn't), Jesus rose from the grave after three days (because we couldn't), Jesus took His blood and offered it, once and for all, for the sin of mankind in the Holy of Holies in the Heavens (because we couldn't).

Are you noticing a pattern here? It is all about what Jesus has done for us...because we couldn't do anything for ourselves!

Now...for whosoever will believe on the finished work of Jesus Christ...they can be born-again.

Born-again...not by their works or their merit...but by simply believing who Jesus Christ is (the only begotten Son of God), and what Jesus has accomplished on our behalf.

Once a person is born-again, they are not to live under the old system of Law that is found in the Old Testament. Those who are born-again are now supposed to live by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 8:7-13, " For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith , Behold, the days comesaith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not , saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother,saying , Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest . 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In that he saith , A new covenant, he hath made the first old . Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away."

One of the greatest things about this new covenant of Grace is that last part, vs. 12, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more."

In this new covenant of Grace...God has promised to never ever...under any circumstance remember sin against us again.

How is that possible? Because this new covenant is between Jesus and His Father. We just happen to be graced with the opportunity to be associated with Jesus Christ. Jesus is our representative...Jesus has become our intercessor (go between). So when the Father looks at us...He sees us IN JESUS! He will not impute sin on Jesus again...and since we are IN CHRIST...He will not impute sin to us either! Hallelujah!

Does that mean that we should all just go out and "sin up the town"?...No...like the Apostle Paul said, "God forbid..." If someone looks at Grace and gets the inspiration to go out and sin...then they have not seen the Gospel of Grace. It is the Gospel of Grace that empowers the believer to refuse sin. When an individual believes whole heartedly in the New Covenant of Grace...they will sin less.

Always remember this...Right Believing will result in Right Behavior!

Now...obviously...I cannot give a lesson that would sum up the entirety of the Bible as concerning Grace on this one page; however, I pray that I have at least sparked interest in you.

Come and join us in one of our services as we learn more about this almost too good to be true Gospel of Grace!

Blessings,

Pastor Kris Page
